Duomo, Arigato

I only have a few minutes to write this up. I'm on the clock and using an unfamiliar keyboard, which is only adding the visceral sense of discontinuity. I dearly miss the Lady, and I wish she could be here to see all of this. I've picked up the tacky souvenir that she wanted and a few nice things as well. Today was amazing, I toured the Bargello, the Duomo, and the Santa Croce. Each of them impressed on me the sheer size and grandeur of the renaissance. This really was a rebirth. Europe has been branded with it, the whole shape of this city and so many others defined by it. There are two main influences, I think. Greco-roman and Renaissance. I thought this city would be more like the familiar american spire-forests with a few bits of arcana stuck between the gigantic skyscrapers. It hasn't, and both the greco-roman and the renaissance influences are clearly present. In fact, despite the installation of Gucci, Prada, and Tiffany, the buildings that house them predate America as we know it. This is history, and I am immersed. I love it. I still miss you though, like a biting ache for the familiar sound of your voice and your heartbeat.
Yours,
WT
